67 works (Herodotus' Histories + 66 Plutarch texts: 48 Lives and 18 Comparisons), 3,544 chapter-unit episodes, 981,215 tokens, poured verbatim from Perseus TEI at pinned commit d121d1539cc37bfc9274bb81c6b6ec773111f098. Deterministic segmentation (segment_tei.py, segment-v1.1): editorial notes and gazetteer glosses stripped; verse lines joined with the editorial ' / '. Two double-Life works (Agis and Cleomenes; Tiberius and Caius Gracchus) are cited by the edition's own book hierarchy (e.g. 'Plut. Agis 1') — the prototype's flat chapter refs collided there. Episode membership in this pour is recorded on each episode row (episode.receipt_id = receipt:corpus-w0), not enumerated here.
What this does not prove- The served text is the Godley (1920–25) and Perrin (1914–1926) English translations — the translators' voice, not the Greek original; original_text is NULL in W0 (the Greek Herodotus XML is staged but not aligned per episode).
- Fidelity is to the Perseus digital edition at the pinned commit, not to any manuscript or critical apparatus.
- Chapter segmentation follows the digital edition's textpart structure; canonical refs follow its numbering, including its book hierarchy for the two double-Life works.
- Episode token counts are whitespace word counts, not linguistic tokens.
