Hdt. 2.166 The Histories, Herodotus; served verbatim
The Kalasiries are from the districts of Thebes , Bubastis , Aphthis, Tanis , Mendes, Sebennys, Athribis , Pharbaïthis, Thmuis, Onuphis, Anytis, Myecphoris (this last is in an island opposite the city of Bubastis )— from all of these; their number, at its greatest, attained to two hundred and fifty thousand men. These too may practise no trade but war, which is their hereditary calling.

The Greek stands ready in the workroom; the English is served. Both faces will read together.
